[Editor’s note: The following text is taken from a timely message delivered by Minister Louis Farrakhan on May 20, 2001 at Mosque Maryam in Chicago titled “The Four Jesuses”.]
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad said: “If Black people really understood the truth about Jesus we would be free overnight.” Why? In Jewish, Christian, and Islamic literature Jesus is a most important person. The Jews do not believe that the man who came 2,000 years ago was in fact the Messiah. The Jews, to this very day, disbelieve in Jesus, not only as a Messiah, but, they refuse to believe in Him even as a Prophet of Allah (God). The Muslims, on the other hand, believe that Jesus was a Prophet. The Muslims also believe, according to the Teachings of the Holy Qur’an that, “Jesus was the Messiah.” The Muslims teach that Jesus would come again in the judgment, and, he would be with the man that the Muslims are looking for called The Mahdi—the one who comes to guide humanity back to the path of God after Satan’s power to rule has been crushed.
The real truth of Jesus is so important because of the Power and the Truth that Allah (God) would give Him to end Satan’s rule. It is natural then that Satan would work very hard to deceive the masses of the people with respect to Jesus. Satan is trying to preserve his power, and, his power is in his ability to deceive. The greatest deceit is to deceive you about the man you expect to be your Savior.
If we start our study today to look for the keys of the Bible and the Qur’an you would look for (1) Where is God? (2) Who are the people of God? (3) Who is that special Messenger of God? (4) Why is Jesus the most important person of the scripture?
In the Book of Genesis you read about Allah (God) making a man and the man goes astray of Allah’s (God’s) law, and, every since Adam’s fall, the human family has fallen. Man and woman has fallen from the place that Allah (God) intended for us. Allah (God) has sent Prophets into the world from time to time to reform, to explain, to guide, to warn, and, to prophesy of things to come.
Prophets became necessary when Satan caused man to fall. Somebody has to come to help man and woman get back up to where Allah (God) intended for us to be. Those persons are called Prophets and Messengers of Allah (God). They are called Reformers, but, none of these Prophets had the power to overcome Satan’s world. So, even if a Prophet came and did good work, Satan still kept his power. The Prophet may have gotten a few to believe and straighten up their lives, but, he never could overcome Satan. Prophets cannot overcome a god. It takes a god to deal with a god, and, Satan is the god of this world. This is why the scriptures prophesy the Coming of Allah (God), because only the True God can overcome Satan.
That is why this man named Jesus is so important, because Jesus is the first one who comes who achieves victory over Satan and opens the way for everyone to overcome Satan.
I do not want Christians to think that Jesus paid the price for our redemption and we do not have anything to do now except ride on his coattail. He paid a price, and, if we choose to follow Him, we have to pay a price. There is no one who really follows Jesus who does not have a price to pay. You are going to be evil spoken of. You are going to be lied on. You may be brought into court falsely. You may be sent to prison falsely. You may even be put to death for following Jesus because Satan does not want Jesus to have any real followers.
Just because you are in the church it does not mean that you are a follower; it means that you are a believer. Those of you in the mosque, it does not mean you are a follower. You can just say you believe what the man is saying is right, but, if you are going to follow Him, then, you have got to pay a price. Jesus is a savior because in what He brings to those who would believe and follow Him is to save us from the destructive fall of Satan and his world. You may not want to believe it, but, this world is going down, and, very soon there will be blood running in the streets of America.
Jesus is a Reconciler. He reconciles man with Allah (God), bringing about an accord, a harmony, and a oneness with Allah (God). When you are in accord with Allah (God), in harmony with Allah (God), one with Allah (God), that is life, that is power, that is the source of goodness, wisdom, strength, and, you are free. This is why Jesus is so important to Muslims, to Christians, to Jews, to the whole of humanity, because all of humanity has been affected by the blinding touch of Satan, who, according to the Bible, has deceived the whole world. Jesus also saves us from the false teaching of Satan that has sentenced us to death mentally, morally, spiritually, and, an untimely physical death.
The Four Jesuses
There are four Jesuses under that one name. Paul said, “He saw Jesus as a man born out of due season.” In the dictionary, the word “due” means: whatever is due is immediately owing; having reached the date for payment. It also means: expected to be ready, to be present, or to arrive. If Jesus was a man born out of due season, what was Jesus preaching? He was preaching the Kingdom of God 2,000 years ago. The Kingdom had not yet arrived, so, Jesus was a man preaching the Kingdom out of the scheduled time of its arrival. Jesus planted the seed of the Kingdom, but, somebody would come at the end of Satan’s rule to not only water it, but, to make the Kingdom of God manifest on Earth.
In the 24th chapter of Matthew, it reads: “As lightning shines from the East even unto the West, so shall the Coming of the Son of Man be.” Allah (God) is coming out of the East into the West. What are you coming for, Allah (God)? He said: “Wheresoever the eagles are gathered together, there shall the carcass be.” A carcass is the dead body of a slaughtered animal or the dead body of a human being after removal of the offal. A carcass is anything from which life and power are gone. What are you coming for, Son of Man? I am coming for a carcass. I am coming to a people in whom the spirit of life and power are no longer seen. I am coming to a people who have been in the hand of a strange people who have afflicted them for 400 years. They are in a nation that I am going to Judge. It just so happens that they are in the most powerful nation on the Earth that all the nations of the Earth bow down to, and, make reverence to, the United States of America.
The One that comes from the East unto the West is coming to do a specific work. That work will bear witness to His Presence in the world. Who is He that comes? His name is Jesus. That is another name for the Son of Man.
If you look in the 37th chapter of Ezekiel, it reads: “The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, and caused me to pass by them round about; and, behold, there were very many dry bones in that valley.” Dry bones means the remains, a carcass of a people that once were somebody, but, the spirit of life and power is no longer in them. “And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live?” So here is a Son of Man coming out of the East, but, there is a Son of Man among the bones. The Son of Man that comes out of the East to the West comes to a people, and, he raises one from among that people who is also a Son of Man. So you have a Jesus coming to a people who are dead, and, He raises one from the dead who becomes a Son of Man, a Jesus. Now he has to go to a people who were in bondage for 400 years, and, their condition is so bad he asked the question, “Can these bones live?”
The winds of oppression are blowing, but, the breath of life will soon come into you, Black man and woman. The Book says, “And the dry bones stood up an exceedingly great army.” I want you to help me raise the dry bones in the valley so that we can become the people of Jesus, with Jesus as the head, and we, as the body, doing His Redemptive work all over the world.
Jesus, number one, is Prophet Jesus. Jesus, number two, is Allah (God) in Person. Jesus, number three, is the Son of Man raised from among you. Jesus, number four, is the People of Allah (God).
Thank you for reading these words.
