“And if they reject thee, say: My work is for me and your work for you. YYou are clear of what I do and I am clear of what you do. And of them are some who listen to thee. But canst thou make the deaf to hear, though they will not understand? And of them are some who look at thee. But canst thou show the way to the blind, though they will not see? Surely Allah wrongs not men in aught, but men wrong themselves.” –Holy Qur’an, Surah 10, verses 41-44

As I flew into Los Angeles, California, from Phoenix, Arizona, a few days following my participation in the Peace Fest Celebration, I thought about the symbolism and meaning of the Phoenix bird. I looked carefully into the word and derived several associated meanings.

For example, we have hidden in the word Pho[enix] the name Enix, calculated to represent a 500-year cycle for the rebirth of the bird that dies in its own ashes to be reborn. This is also referred to as the Enix circle. The Phoenix bird is also used predominately in Chinese and Asian art, carrying with it the mystical meaning and significance as well.

When America’s founding fathers designed the seal of the United States government, it was suggested that the Phoenix bird be placed as the symbol of America’s future destiny, but was later replaced by the Bald Eagle.

In Biblical history, this could be interpreted in the saying that wherever the carcass is strewn, the Eagles will be gathered together. This represents our death on this western horizon. Ezekiel’s vision also gives us a picture of the dry bones in the valley upon which the winds, representing war, would bring them back to life.

In the word “Phoenix” we can reconstruct the letters and derive the word “sphinx” referring to the ancient mystical structure standing as a sentinel of power and beauty on the Gizzah plateau in Egypt adjacent to the Great Pyramid. In the ancient Egyptian writings, the Great Pyramid is also referred to as Enix Pillar. More details of this study will be discussed in future writings.

I was soon to land in the airport in the greater Los Angeles area accompanied by the regional minister for the western region, Tony Muhammad, and the Regional Captain Halim Muhammad. Preparation was being made for me to address the M.G.T. Class and to address the Sunday meeting by invitation of the minister on California Day, which is an outreach to the Believers in the State of California and outlining communities.

Looking closely at the name “California” and breaking it down into symbols, we recognize the word [Calif]ornia, the word for which is derived from Islamic history the four rightly guided Califs.

Then, when we look at the words “Los Angeles,” meaning the “city of angels,” one would wonder how this characterization could be applied to the chaotic conditions that prevails in this state from politics and turmoil, to police brutality issues, neighborhood violence, homicide, gangland massacres, drive-by shootings, drugs and guns, and images of the rich and famous in this city of glitter and gold.

A wall of fire is literally blanketing southern California with millions of dollars of damages, destruction of homes and lives, with soot and ashes coming down over a wide area reaching down into San Diego. This is a sign to America and the rest of the world of what men’s hands have wrought of disasters and self-destruction. We are literally surrounded by a ring of fire.

All of these signs are to be studied in the final Judgment of the world that we have known. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and his great helper the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan have been warning the American government, and people in particular, of what is befalling America because of her great wickedness and betrayal to God. The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan in some of his latest addresses at Mosque Maryam has warned that we are near yet to the end of the grace time. What is remaining is Divine Chastisement.

“Say: Do you see if His chastisement overtakes you by night or by day? What then is there of it that the guilty would hasten? And when it comes to pass, will you believe in it? What! now! and you hastened it on. Then will it be said to those who were unjust: Taste abiding chastisement; you are not requited except for what you earned. And they ask thee: Is that true? Say: Aye, by my Lord! it is surely the Truth, and you will not escape.” –Holy Qur’an, Surah 10, verses 50-53
